As you paddle away from shore and venture farther out into the dark\, you’ll experience Mother Nature’s own light show of sparkles in the water beneath you with stars twinkling above. That’s right\, there’s sea life—both plant and animal—that emits its own light! It’s called bioluminescence. We’ll use our kayaks\, paddles and even hands to get you as close as possible with this incredible phenomena. We don’t go far because there’s so much to see close to shore in intertidal waters; more of a float than a paddle. For a more vigorous physical workout or if distance is your thing\, consider a daytime tour instead. But for a vibrant visual experience\, don’t miss our bioluminescence experience. We offer these only a few times during the summer when there’s a new moon and the skies are darkest for best viewing. \n\n\n\n\n2 Hours

As you paddle away from shore and venture farther out into the dark\, you’ll experience Mother Nature’s own light show of sparkles in the water beneath you with stars twinkling above. That’s right\, there’s sea life—both plant and animal—that emits its own light! It’s called bioluminescence. We’ll use our kayaks\, paddles and even hands to get you as close as possible with this incredible phenomena. We don’t go far because there’s so much to see close to shore in intertidal waters; more of a float than a paddle. For a more vigorous physical workout or if distance is your thing\, consider a daytime tour instead. But for a vibrant visual experience\, don’t miss our bioluminescence experience. We offer these only a few times during the summer when there’s a new moon and the skies are darkest for best viewing. \n\n\n\n\n2 Hours

Additional parking is available at Island Church\, diagonally across from the staging area. See map at the bottom. \n\n\n\nImportant: Vehicles should not enter the Bus Barn parking lot unless they are registered as part of the parade or the driver requires ADA-accessible parking. This is a gentle sailing experience perfect for the whole family. We sail where the wind is the best\, perhaps past Snakelum Point where the Lower Skagit Tribes lived to the east\, or the Penn Cove mussel farms to the west. \n\n\n\nWe depart the picturesque Coupeville wharf every Friday\, Saturday and Sunday on our historic 1925 wooden pilot house schooner. \n\n\n\n2026 Sailing Schedule (June – October 17\, 2026)\n\n\n\nFridays:  About 5:30 p.m.\, varies depending on sunsetSaturdays: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.Sundays: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nAll scheduled sailings are approximately 2 hours\, and depart from the Coupeville Wharf at 24 Front St NW. The band began as a father-son duo over 10 years ago with Isaac and Mark Wacker performing at local events here on Whidbey Island. The band now features the precision beats of Kent Turner on drums\, and multi-instrumentalist Ray Shelly on everything! They also have the good fortune of working with the best in the biz\, their good friend and extraordinary sound engineer\, Fish (Gregg Salmon). \n\n\n\nSunday\, August 16 | Hot Club of Troy-jazz:The Hot Club of Troy will perform an afternoon of exhilarating hot jazz and captivating musical history. The group\, led by guitarist Troy Chapman\, and joined by bassist Jonti Siman\, pianist Gary Wittlich\, guitarist Patrick Brooks\, and special guests\, has a rich history of performing at prestigious Django Reinhardt festivals worldwide\, including the renowned Djangofest Northwest.  \n\n\n\nTheir music is a testament to the brilliance of Django Reinhardt\, one of the most influential guitarists in history.
