DESCRIPTION:Nighttime Bioluminescence Kayak Experience | Whidbey Island Kayaking\n\n\n\nJoin us for a truly memorable experience—a nighttime\, on-the-water kayak exploration of Puget Sound bioluminescence. As you paddle away from shore and venture farther out into the dark\, you’ll experience Mother Nature’s own light show of sparkles in the water beneath you with stars twinkling above. That’s right\, there’s sea life—both plant and animal—that emits its own light! It’s called bioluminescence. We’ll use our kayaks\, paddles and even hands to get you as close as possible with this incredible phenomena. We don’t go far because there’s so much to see close to shore in intertidal waters; more of a float than a paddle. For a more vigorous physical workout or if distance is your thing\, consider a daytime tour instead. But for a vibrant visual experience\, don’t miss our bioluminescence experience. We offer these only a few times during the summer when there’s a new moon and the skies are darkest for best viewing. \n\n\n\n\n2 Hours

This Seattle-based nonprofit empowers urban Native youth through free programs blending contemporary theatre and traditional Native performing arts\, sharing original stories of culture\, identity\, and community across the Northwest. \n\n\n\nAugust 7th | 1:00-2:30pm | James Donlon Physical Theatre PerformanceAn afternoon of physical theatre\, mask\, comedy and solo performance with  James Donlon. Donlon\, considered one of the world’s most accomplished artists in the craft of movement theatre\, brings over 50 years of international performance experience to physical solo-storytelling. This show is intended for mature audiences of 15 years old and above. \n\n\n\nAugust 14th 1:00pm\, 15th 1:00pm & 17th 6:00pm: King John: A Solo PerformanceRobin Hood’s Prince John went on to become king\, and Shakespeare dramatized his reign in a sharp and timely critique of unconstrained power and its abuses. This solo show delivers a single narrative through-line that honors the essence of the rarely produced play\, but allows for a more focused and incisive piece of theatre. \n\n\n\nShakespeare’s bold\, strikingly modern King John is one of his sharpest critiques of unconstrained power and its abuses—an unflinching portrait of the bloody price that a whole society must pay for the political ambitions of a reckless few. Yet even within his jagged narrative\, Shakespeare finds poignancy\, humanity\, heartbreak and humor shimmering through a darkly cynical vision that feels startlingly\, urgently familiar.

 \n\n\n\nIt is timely that The Giddy Round should bring its King John to ISF this summer with Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest on its stage. Robin Hood’s Prince John went on to become king\, and Shakespeare dramatized his reign in his play. 

 \n\n\n\nThis swift and lean solo adaptation is an international collaboration between Macedonian director Damjan Dimovski and U.S.-based actor/adapter Matthew Windham. The production runs about 65-70 minutes. \n\n\n\nAugust 22nd 1:00pm\, 29th 1:00pm\, & September 5th 1:00pm: Sound & Fury\, An Improvised ShakespearienceISF Beyond features its theatre neighbors for “Sound & Fury\,” a fully improvised Shakespearean play presented by Whidbey Improv and OutCast Productions. \n\n\n\nThe world of Shakespeare is brought to life here\, blending Elizabethan flair with contemporary comedy. DESCRIPTION:Meerkerk Garden Tours | Thru October 17th\n\n\n\nOne of the best ways to experience the gardens is on one of our docent-led tours offered from early spring into mid-autumn. \n\n\n\nCome learn about the plants and unique features of the garden. Tours are from 1 – 2:30 p.m. and last 1.5 – 2 hours. Tours begin at the Welcome Center at the Gatehouse. Come join multiple tours throughout the year and see how the gardens change. Tanya Boyd\, Audrey Neubauer\, Kerry Holland\, Dana Moffett\, Micah Petrich\, Lucas Earl\, Caden Davis\, Leslie Breeden\, Diana Chamrad\, Dyanne Harshman\, Warner Scheyer and Tillie Scruton will be joined by special guest musicians from Zimbabwe. July 22 – ROSSaCONN is an eclectic mix of danceable instrumental originals\, blending funk\, African\, reggae rock and life influences. Stephan Ross on bass\, Eric Nightsong Conn on guitar\, and Rachman Ross on drums keep it upbeat and fun. August 5 – Western Heroes have been providing original dance music to the Whidbey Island community for 16 years. From polka to punk\, their diverse collection of songs are played with one goal in mind: to get people up and moving. Michael and David Licastro provide vocals and guitar\, Lorraine Newland on bass and vocals\, David Maloney on drums\, and Larry Neubauer on keyboard and vocals. \n\n\n\nAugust 19 – PETE the BAND PETE is the quintessential Whidbey Island garage band\, performing rock & blues dance music and American groove music. The band is comprised of Fredde Butterworth on drums\, Dave Draper and David Licastro on guitar\, Marc Strader on bass\, and Danny Ward on sax. September 2 – Ike and the Old Man began as a father & son duo eight years ago that blossomed into a full band playing an eclectic mix of pop\, rock\, blues\, country\, and jazz. We sail where the wind is the best\, perhaps past Snakelum Point where the Lower Skagit Tribes lived to the east\, or the Penn Cove mussel farms to the west. \n\n\n\nWe depart the picturesque Coupeville wharf every Friday\, Saturday and Sunday on our historic 1925 wooden pilot house schooner. \n\n\n\n2026 Sailing Schedule (June – October 17\, 2026)\n\n\n\nFridays:  About 5:30 p.m.\, varies depending on sunsetSaturdays: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.Sundays: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nAll scheduled sailings are approximately 2 hours\, and depart from the Coupeville Wharf at 24 Front St NW. SUMMARY:NAS Whidbey Island Open House and Flight Line 5K Run
DESCRIPTION:NAS Whidbey Island Open House and Flight Line 5K Run\n\n\n\nNAS Whidbey Island will host its annual open house for the public on Saturday\, August 22\, 2026\, at Ault Field from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   \n\n\n\nThe Open House will include a 5K run around the flightline. Registration for the 5K will be at 7 a.m.\, with the run starting at 8 a.m. Charles Porter Gate will open at 6:30 a.m. for those participating in the 5K run. If not participating in the 5K run\, the flight line for all other visitors will open at 10 a.m. when the flight line opens for static displays of Growlers\, P-8s\, SAR and MQ-9\, and other exhibits. \n\n\n\nEveryone over the age of 18 is required to have a photo ID. To gain entry\, everyone must have Real ID Act compliant identifications for entry. \n\n\n\nLive streaming video will be strictly forbidden during the entire event\, including official live streaming on social media. \n\n\n\nDue to security measures\, the following items are not allowed on the base: alcohol\, bags larger than 12″x6″x12″\, backpacks\, weapons (to include pocket knives)\, coolers\, cameras with lenses exceeding 200mm zoom\, camera tripods\, cameras that can’t fit in 12″x6″x12″ bag while fully assembled\, and pets. \n\n\n\nAdditionally\, drugs or drug paraphernalia to include marijuana products are prohibited from the base.
