DESCRIPTION:Whidbey and Camano Islands are home to some of the most beautiful state parks in Washington\, including the most visited of all (Deception Pass!). Usually\, a Discover Pass is required for entry\, but take note of these 12 special dates where entry and parking for day use is completely free! This year\, more than ever\, we need outdoor activity and natural beauty\, and each island has great choices. If you miss the free days\, an annual Discover Pass (including fees) is $45 or daily for $11.50. Historically\, these areas were used for hay production\, but in recent years\, this practice has ceased due to the growth of buttercups and daisies. Our goal is to create a mixed conifer forest around Pass Lake\, with the aim of revegetating 19.5 acres of the former hay fields surrounding the lake. \n\n\n\nThere are two groups 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:00-4:30pm | The event will begin at 8:30 AM\, with the first planting group starting at 9:00 AM. Please note that your Eventbrite ticket is valid for one car and includes all participants within. To accommodate everyone\, we encourage carpooling\, as parking will be limited to 50 cars per planting group. We recommend wearing sturdy\, waterproof shoes\, as the restoration site requires a 0.7-mile walk to access and may be wet. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided; however\, participants should bring their own gloves. Please dress appropriately for the weather\, as the event will take place rain or shine. Proceeds support the Island County 4-H (FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIRT) – REGISTER HERE \n\n\n\nLimited parking is available at Double Bluff. DESCRIPTION:The Art of Awe and Wonder: Rehearsing Resilience at The Whidbey Institute January 18 \n\n\n\nFeeling stretched thin by the world? Join us for an immersive exploration of awe and wonder as everyday practices of resilience through movement\, music and creative expression. \n\n\n\nReconnect to Self: we will explore what inspires us and engage in accessible practices to restore our sense of aliveness and joy in uncertain times. Tune into Creative Connection: we will practice presence and connect with each other in creative ways that support belonging and establish common ground.
Participate in a Collaborative Performance: we will share experiences of awe and wonder that will be transformed into short arts-based pieces for witness and celebration. \n\n\n\nThis participatory 4-hour workshop invites you to slow down\, tune into connection\, and create in community. Together\, we’ll move\, listen\, respond\, witness\, and be witnessed\, turning our individual and shared experiences of wonder into a collective practice of presence\, transformation\, and support. DESCRIPTION:Whidbey and Camano Islands are home to some of the most beautiful state parks in Washington\, including the most visited of all (Deception Pass!). Usually\, a Discover Pass is required for entry\, but take note of these 12 special dates where entry and parking for day use is completely free! This year\, more than ever\, we need outdoor activity and natural beauty\, and each island has great choices. If you miss the free days\, an annual Discover Pass (including fees) is $45 or daily for $11.50.
