SUMMARY:Rob Schouten Gallery: Peggy Woods\, Don Wodjenski
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our Opening Reception on Saturday\, June 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in conjunction with Langley’s First Saturday Art Walk. During the reception local mbira group Sarungano will be playing this ancient Zimbabwean instrument and sing three part harmonies in the Shona language in the Sculpture Garden. \n\n\n\nThis month we are featuring in the gallery: Peggy Woods and Don Wodjenski – June 4 – 30 \n\n\n\nWatercolorist Peggy Woods captures our love affair with water as no other painter in Home Waters\, an exhibition that focusses on the play of light on water\, whether glowing with contrast\, or misty and moody. Her quiet observation invite the viewer to celebrate the tranquil dramas that convey the poignancy of everyday coastal life captured in sixteen original paintings. For more information click HERE \n\n\n\nDon Wodjenski’s Form & Reveal showcases his skill as a woodturner who uses a variety of local and ethically sourced exotic woods to create bowls\, platters and vases. He often incorporates inlays of turquoise\, malachite\, lapis or gold\, in a manner akin to the Japanese kintsugi tradition of fixing flaws and cracks in ceramics\, and the shou sugi ban tradition of charring and burning piercings to add decorative elements.
