DESCRIPTION:Whidbey Wild Mushroom Tours | Saturday’s thru December 19\, 2026\n\n\n\nStep into the pristine forests of beautiful Whidbey Island and uncover the fascinating fungi that thrive among us! Fall is the perfect season to forage a variety of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms\, making it an ideal time for discovery and adventure. \n\n\n\nPublic Group Tours \n\n\n\nMeet at South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Market . You can choose from two time slots: a morning session from 9:00am to 12:00pm or an afternoon session from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. I will hand out informational booklets to everybody that are yours to keep to help support and continue your learning. Then we will dive straight into a 30-45 minute information packed and illustrated presentation about mushrooms and foraging for mushrooms. Many mushrooms will be on display and labeled for your viewing and learning pleasure. After the discussion we will then drive in our own vehicles to our tour location not far away where I have previously scouted out to be sure the area is fruitful for us. From there we will venture into the forest to see what we can find and of course we will be chit chatting about everything mushrooms along the way and whatever else we all feel like talking about. Dogs are not allowed on public tours. If you’re coming from Seattle you’ll want to take the Mukilteo Ferry.Public Group Tour (10 seats available per tour):  $75 per person \n\n\n\nPrivate Tours \n\n\n\nare offered on Sunday’s and weekdays during my public group tour season and 7 days a week outside of the season (as long as mushrooms are present which in the Pacific Northwest is nearly year round). You have your choice between a morning 9:00am to 12:00pm or an afternoon 1:00pm to 4:00pm For private tours we do not meet at South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Market but instead will meet at a tour destination that I have previously scouted out to be sure the area is fruitful for us. DESCRIPTION:Swing the Gates Fun Run: Deception Pass State Park | October 31\n\n\n\nSwing the Gates at Deception Pass State Park is back and this time we are CLOSING the Park on Halloween! Challenging Course. Beautiful Scenery. Costumes Encouraged. \n\n\n\nThis year will include the popular 10k Team Scavenger Hunt and the classic 5k Fun Run-costumes encouraged. \n\n\n\nCome hang out with an amazing community of nature lovers\, runners\, walkers\, and their K-9 companions while exploring the beauty of Deception Pass State Park. \n\n\n\n5K Fun Run\n\n\n\nKicks off at 9:00am\, but we recommend coming early to cheer on the 10K team scavenger hunt participants as they complete their first challenge as soon as they cross the start line at 8:00am.   \n\n\n\nThe course will be run primarily on paved surfaces\, however does include 400 ft elevation gain with a steep incline at the beginning of the race. Strollers\, small children\, and dogs are welcome! The race aid station is cup-less again\, so be sure to bring your own water bottle or cup. Course will close at 11:00am \n\n\n\nPrice: $30 (Student Discount $10)Ages 5 – 18: $10Time: 9:00am- 11:00am PDTRegistration ends October 30\, 2026 at 11:59am PDTOpen to ages 5+. \n\n\n\n10K Team Scavenger Hunt\n\n\n\nChallenge yourself and your friends to a unique race experience. Teams will set off along the trails and roads of the Park to solve various challenges along the way which will help them uncover the racecourse as they go. Scavenger hunts are more fun with friends\, so find three other people to join you at 8:00am on race day. Distances and elevation will vary based on your team’s ability to navigate the trails of Deception Pass State Park.  \n\n\n\nThis is a difficult course run primarily along unpaved trails and roads within the park. If your team is able to navigate the trails efficiently\, we expect the 10:30am to allow park staff to CLOSE the gates to the Park for the season.  If you are still running at this time\, we ask that you head to the finish line and check in. This is an unsupported 10K race. Plan to carry your own water and snacks.  \n\n\n\n\nThe first participant will pay the initial fee and then all other teammates are free.
