SUMMARY:New Years Walk at Meerkerk Gardens
DESCRIPTION:As you walk with Naturalist Steve Layman\, the sounds of the forest come alive. Birds chirp melodiously overhead\, while the rustle of small creatures scurrying through the underbrush adds a layer of excitement to the atmosphere. The trail winds through patches of vibrant wildflowers\, their colors contrasting beautifully with the deep greens of the leaves. Alongside\, ferns and moss carpet the ground\, creating a soft\, lush foundation that cushions your footsteps. \n\n\n\nWalks start at 1 PM at the Gatehouse and last approximately 1.5 hours.  \n\n\n\nDress for the weather in warm layers\, water resistant shoes\, hats and gloves. Walks may be cancelled due to high winds.  \n\n\n\nWalks are free for Friends of Meerkerk Members (and children under 13); cost is $15 per person for non-members.  \n\n\n\nPreregister at www.meerkerkgardens.org/events

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the quiet wonders of the winter season with a guided walk through the curated gardens and legacy forest at Meerkerk Gardens. Our Solstice Walk is Sunday\, December 22\, at 1:00pm. Experience the beauty of nature at the darkest time of the year! \n\n\n\nEvergreen trees and foliage\, wildlife\, colorful berries\, and even a few rhododendrons in bloom are some of the wintertime treasures our docents will show you. \n\n\n\nWalks start at the entry Gatehouse and last approximately 1.5 hours. Dress for the weather in warm layers\, water resistant shoes\, hats and gloves. Walks may be cancelled due to high winds. \n\n\n\nWalks are free for Friends of Meerkerk members (and children under 13). The cost is $15 per person for non-members. Preregister HERE \n\n\n\nNot a Meerkerk member? Consider unlimited annual visits to the Gardens and other benefits by becoming a member at www.meerkerkgardens.org/membership. \n\n\n\nThe Gardens are open from 9:00am-4:00pm seven days a week.
