June 6 @ 10:00 am

On Thursday the 6th, a Battle of Midway Commemoration will be held at the PBY- Naval Air Museum’s Aircraft Display Area next to the PBY – 5A Catalina in Oak Harbor at 270 SE Pioneer Way. The guest speaker for the event will be NAS Whidbey Island Commanding Officer Capt. Matt Arny.
Attendees can view the personal flight log of P.A. Fitzpatrick, a crewman on the PBY-5A, call sign Strawberry 5, that spotted the Japanese Fleet at Midway to give the US Navy carrier aircraft a decisive advantage in the battle that turned the tide of WWII in the Pacific Theater. As Europe observes D-Day, which decisively turned the tide of war in Europe, join us to observe this equally important day in the War of the Pacific.
