Island Consort: La Musica d’Italia

Island Consort opens the 2017-18 (their fifth!) season with La Musica d’Italia–a program of works by Italian masters. Island Consort Singers—under the direction of Dr. Dianne Vars–will perform works of Claudio Monteverdi and by contemporary pieces by Italian-American composer Domenick Argento. Guitarist Robert Kelly will perform a Scarlatti sonata as well as as Boccherini’s Introduction & Fandango with harpsichordist and Island Consort Director Sheila Weidendorf. Violinists Sue Baer & Brian Kenney and cellist JingJing Tsong will perform a Corelli trio sonata, and Island Consort Players will do Marcello’s oboe concerto with guest oboist Logan Esterling, and close the program with Vivaldi’s Autumn from his Four Seasons, with violin soloist Gloria Ferry-Brennan.
