Island Shakespeare Festival – The Seagull
August 13, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Throughout the summer, Whidbey Island’s first repertory theatre presents works by Shakespeare and from other playwrights as well. One evening you may go to see a play by Shakespeare, the next, a play by another great writer.
Tonight’s presentation is “The Seagull.”
- Hamlet – Shakespeare explores corruption, revenge, and morality as the Prince of Denmark wrestles with the death of his father, his uncle’s assent to the throne and subsequent marriage to his mother.
- The Comedy of Errors – Mistaken identity, slapstick humor and puns mark one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies.
- The Seagull – As has become the custom for the festival, one non-Shakespeare production is presented each season. 2017 will feature Anton Chekov’s play about upper-class Russians at the end of the 1800’s and their pursuit of love and happiness.
Shows are Thursday through Sunday, at 6:00 p.m., with matinees at 1:00 p.m. Saturdays in August.
Admission is pay what you will.
