“Love, Loss and What I Wore” – Whidbey Playhouse
According to “Love, Loss and What I Wore”, if there is one thing the females of the species have in common, it’s a deep and abiding love/hate relationship with their wardrobe.
Directed and produced for Whidbey Playhouse by Sue Riney, this beautifully written play is by superstar sisters Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and Julie and Julia) and Delia Ephron (You’ve Got Mail, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants). Based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, the show will be performed by six actresses – Gaye Litka, Katie Jones, Susie Thompson, Nicole Bouvion, Dianne Gruenwald, and Rebecca Leonard – portraying multiple characters.
Proving that a great show is always in fashion, the show has played to sell-out crowds from London to Los Angeles, using clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny, startling, and often poignant stories that every woman can relate to, and men will be given a treasured insight into the struggles women face daily, as symbolized by the clothing they wear and don’t wear and can’t wear and can’t stop wearing.
Get your tickets now by going to the Playhouse website at www.whidbeyplayhouse.com calling 360-679-2237, or stopping by the box office Tuesdays through Fridays 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Performances are March 10 – 26, with 7:30 shows on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm.
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS OF WHIDBEY ISLAND
As an additional showing of support for the women and girls of Whidbey Island, those attending the production are invited to bring items to donate to “I Support The Girls – Whidbey Island”. The organization collects and distributes essential items, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress to stand tall with dignity.
Most needed at this time is feminine hygiene products – maxi-pads and tampons – that will be provided to the schools, jail, and homeless shelters on Whidbey Island. More information regarding the organization can be found https://isupportthegirls.org
