Prairie Walk & Talk: “The Many Lives of Ebey’s Landing”
August 31 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
DATE CHANGE TO SATURDAY AUGUST 31 – 11:00am – 2:00pm! Looking at a forecast with a 90% chance of rain predicted all day on Saturday, we have decided to bump our History Hike to the following Saturday, August 31. If the Ferry House were an indoor venue, we would remain undaunted, but alas . . . it is not. We hope you will still be able to join us!
Updated Info below!
The Ebey’s Landing we all love is a place of stunning beauty – a land- and seascape for contemplation, renewal and recreation. But this inspiring untrammeled place has layers and layers of history to reveal – more than ten thousand years of undiscovered secrets!

GETTING STARTED: The Pratt Sheep Barn is a .3 mile walk on the Pratt Loop Trail from the trailhead at the Ebey’s Reserve office. Designated event parking is available at the Hanson property, the private driveway just past the Prairie Overlook (look for signs). Please leave time for the walk to the Sheep Barn. Drop-off at the Barn will be allowed for those with mobility issues.
A 1.5 mile hike will separate the talks, with a short stop at the Jacob & Sarah Ebey House along the Prairie Trail. The hike is one-way and is not ADA accessible.
You do not need to do the hike to attend the talks, but you will need to provide your own transportation between venues.
Parking at the Ferry House will be on your own at Ebey’s Landing State Park (Discover Pass required) or along the beach. We recommend drop-off at the Ferry House for those with mobility issues and then proceeding to park at beach level. If this is not possible, a very limited number of spaces will be available at the Ferry House. An attendant at the gate will guide you.
Hikers will need to hike back the 1.5 miles to the Pratt Loop trailhead or arrange alternative transportation back.
Restrooms are only available 1) at the Pratt Loop trailhead 2) the Pratt Sheep Barn and 3) at the beach level at Ebey’s Landing State Park.
In traversing from beach level up to the Ferry House, we encourage taking the State Park stairs west of the restrooms to avoid walking up the blind-curve on the road.
