Whidbey Island Music Festival 2019

The 2019 edition of the Whidbey Island Music Festival features four classical music programs over two weekends in July and August.

Single tickets are $22 Advanced purchase/$25 at the door one hour before the concert/$10 students
Children are admitted free of charge

Program I     A Night at the Opera
Friday, July 26th at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, July 28th at 3 p.m.

A delightful evening in Old Vienna – with string quartet arrangements of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, quartets by Haydn (Op. 20 No. 5 and op. 76 No 5). Soprano sensation Sherezade Panthaki will sing Haydn’s Scena di Beatrice and Mozart’s exuberant and joyful motet Exultate, jubilate.

Program II Schubert Cello Quintet
Saturday, July 27th at

Experience the sublime beauty of Franz Schubert’s String Quintet in C, completed only months before his death and considered one of the masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire.

Program III Handel’s Roman Holiday
Friday, August 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at St. Augustine’s in-the-woods
Sunday, August 4th at 3 p.m.

A program of dramatic, passionate and virtuosic music written while Handel was a young man in Rome. Amanda Forsythe brings Handel’s greatest heroines to life!

 Program IV John Dowland – Time stands still
Saturday, August 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

The melancholy beauty of John Dowland’s lute songs have enchanted and delighted listeners for centuries. Join us for a magical evening of music by John Dowland and other masters of the English lute song with GRAMMY award winner Stephen Stubbs (lute) and rising star Danielle Samson (soprano), joined by violinist Tekla Cunningham and violist da gamba Elisabeth Reed.
