Whidbey Working Artists Summer Open Studio Tour
August 20, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeWhidbey Working Artists Summer Open Studio Tour features 53 artists, scheduled for August 20 and 21, from 10am to 5pm.
Known for its natural beauty, Whidbey Island is home to more than 300 artists, who draw inspiration from their surroundings. The Whidbey Working Artists open studio tour, set for August 20 and 21, from 10am to 5pm both days, is a chance to meet and talk with artists about their paintings, sculpture, pottery, blown glass, photographs, textiles, baskets, wood art, jewelry, engravings, carvings and much more.
You may have seen the work of these artists at local galleries or on websites, but you have probably longed to see where and how they work. The Whidbey Working Artists Summer Open Studio Tour, with 53 artists covering Whidbey Island from north to south, east to west, is your chance to meet and talk with the artists in their native habitat – their studios. Most of Whidbey’s artists are well known throughout the country.
“The concentration of artists on Whidbey Island has created an ecosystem of talented people who inspire each other,” said Kay Parsons, president of Whidbey Island Arts Council, a sponsor of the studio tour. “Visiting with the artists in their studios and spending time on Whidbey Island in the summer is also a way to inspire the artist within.”
An annual program of the Whidbey Island Arts Council, the open studio tour coincides with the very popular Plein Air Paintout event hosted by Coupeville’s Pacific Northwest Art School.
