Bird Walks at Deception Pass | February 21st, March 7th, 21st, and April 4th
Discover some of the common, and not so common, species of birds which call Deception Pass State Park home.
Bird Walks at Deception Pass State Park offer a fantastic opportunity for bird enthusiasts of all skill levels. During walks participants will have opportunities to practice bird identification, explore unique bird habitats, and learn from fellow birders. We recommend bringing your own binoculars or scopes, though a limited number will be available to borrow. All walks are organized and hosted in partnership with the Whidbey Audubon Society.
No registration required.


Please note: A Discover Pass or day permit is required for each vehicle.
February 21st | West Beach, Deception Pass State Park from 10:00am – 12:00pm
Direction: (41229 State Rt 20, Oak Harbor, WA 98277) Please note this address will only take you to the general location of the park. Whether arriving from the north or south on SR20, you will come to a stoplight at the bottom of a hill. Turn west into the main park entrance. Drive past the welcome station and follow along the winding road until you reach a stop sign, then turn left. Take this road all the way down to the end, which will lead you to the West Beach parking lot. Restrooms are available at this location.

March 7th | Cornet Bay – Hoypus Point, Deception Pass State Park from 10:00am – 12:00pm
Direction: (160 Cornet Bay Rd, Oak Harbor, WA 98277) Navigate to Cornet Bay Marina. As Cornet Bay Rd navigates you through a section of private property, continue straight. Drive past the Deception Pass State Park entrance sign to the right and enter the boat ramp parking lot. Restrooms are available at this location.

March 21st | West Beach, Deception Pass State Park from 10:00am – 12:00pm
Direction: (41229 State Rt 20, Oak Harbor, WA 98277) Please note this address will only take you to the general location of the park. April 4th | Rosario Beach, Deception Pass State Park from 10:00am – 12:00pm
Directions: (Rosario Beach Rd, Anacortes, WA 98221) Please note this address does not take you all the way to the parking lot. Follow to the end of the road until you reach the metal gates to enter the Rosario parking lot. Restrooms are available at this location.
