Dmitri Matheny is an American flugelhornist known for his warm tone, soaring lyricism, and exceptional technique. He has been praised as “one of the most emotionally expressive improvisers of his generation” by the International Review of Music. Dmitri is an honors graduate of the Berklee College of Music and a protégé of jazz legend Art Farmer, making a name for himself on the jazz scene in the 1990s. He has since gained critical acclaim and an international following, performing in 19 countries across the United States, Europe, and Asia. With over 100 recordings to his name, Dmitri has released 11 albums as a leader, including his latest work, Jazz Noir, which offers a fresh take on crime jazz, film noir movie themes, and timeless classics.
