
Freeland Art Studios Open House

Please join us 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 The Freeland Art Studios will slide open its giant doors to the public for their annual Open House event on Saturday, June 7. We have artists working in a variety of media, our artists are: Ken Barnes, Penelope Crittenden, Carol Rose Dean, Charles LaFond, Tom Lindsay, Benjamin Mefford, Matt Monforte, Alexandra Morosco, Sue Taves, Lane Tompkins, and Lloyd Whannell.
Freeland Art Studios is a professional art studio where these artists create original artworks. During the Open House you can tour the working studio spaces in the 7000 sq. foot building and enjoy displays of artwork available for sale. FAS houses eleven individual artist workspaces and common areas with artists working in a variety of different media including stone, bronze, ceramic tile, pottery, oil and acrylic painting, cast glass, and mixed media.
Charles LaFond will be doing demonstrations using a kick wheel and providing a short discussion about Japanese style tea/rice/noodle bowl forms. Demonstrations are 8 minutes long and will happen every hour on the hour. Tea will be served.
Both Alexandra Morosco and Sue Taves completed large public art commissions in 2024 and are delving into multiple new projects now those sculptures are installed.
Lloyd Whannell installed his “SunTracker” sculpture at Marymoor Park in December and is busy working on new sculptures in his “Silent Watcher” series as well as creating new non-series sculpture.
Lane Tompkins is finding just the right shape for the tassels on his new limestone sculpture “Jester.”
