Kingfisher Books: Bestie Author Talk with Amber Casali and Will Taylor

June 3, 2023 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Bring your bestie to our first-ever Bestie Author Talk! Two authors, two genres, two readerships: one wildly entertaining hour in the bookstore! Join NW locals Amber Casali and Will Taylor for this one-of-a-kind summer book mashup. We can think of no better way to kick off summer and Pride than with this book chat on publishing, writing for kids and families, non-fiction versus fiction, hikes, using the NW as inspiration, and much more! Q&A and signing to follow. Amber Casali is the author of Hiking Washington’s Fire Lookouts, a quintessential Northwest guide that appeals to a broad range of hikers! Amber was born in Seattle, Washington. She discovered backpacking in college on a wilderness extension program in Northern California, spending two weeks at a time on the trail and living out of bear canisters. A flurry of travel after college inspired her to jump on the blogging bandwagon. She wrote about eating tapas in Spain, hiking to temples in Thailand, volunteering on farms in Italy, teaching English in South Korea, and soaking in hot springs in Bolivia. After living overseas for a year in a place with only small mountains, Amber missed the big peaks and wild backcountry of the Pacific Northwest and moved back to Seattle in 2012. Since then, she’s become an avid hiker and novice mountaineer. When not outside, she works as a writer and editor at a tech marketing agency. Will Taylor is the author of The Language of Seabirds, a sweet middle-grade story of two boys finding first love with each other over a seaside summer. Will is a reader, writer, and honeybee fan. He lives in the heart of downtown Seattle surrounded by all the seagulls and not-too-many teacups. When not writing, he can be found searching for the perfect bakery, talking to trees in parks, and
