Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra invites audiences to celebrate the season with a vibrant and dynamic concert program featuring works by Maurice Ravel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and contemporary composer Stacy Garrop. Under the baton of Music Director Anna Edwards, the professional orchestra will showcase Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter”, and Stacy Garrop’s “Penelope Waits” from her Mythology Symphony. Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major dazzles with its irresistible blend of French Impressionist color and jazz-inspired energy. Written after the composer’s exposure to American jazz, the concerto sparkles with playful rhythms, bluesy harmonies, and brilliant orchestral textures. Special guest, pianist Julian Garvue will perform as soloist in Ravel’s jazz-influenced concerto. Julian joined Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program in 2024 and has performed across genres from classical to pop. Before beginning his collaborative piano career, he worked for three years as a jazz pianist in New York City.
