Whidbey Art Gallery July 2023 Happenings
We’re looking forward to an art-filled month with two featured member artists, Stuart King and Woody Morris and guest artist Phyllis Ray. All five rooms of the gallery are briming with color and a wide variety of art for every taste and budget. Paintings, photography, pottery, ceramics, books, wrapped rocks, jewelry, sculpture, yard art – you name it, we have it. If you need to ship an item, Full Circle Business Center Is right next door with all the shipping supplies you need.
Come meet the artists at Art Walk on Saturday, July 1, from 5-7. Have dinner at one of Langley’s eateries and come by and immerse yourself in the art world.
Stuart King
The latest chapter in Stuart’s artistic evolution is his Rip Curl series of paintings. With these, he’s forged a bond between his 3D design aesthetic and iconic wave paintings to create unique, multidimensional pieces. Reclaimed wood often features in these works, as well as a literal manipulation of the canvas, giving life and depth to his Rip Curls.
Woody Morris
Long-time gallery member Woody Morris will surprise us with glass sculptures. He has a passion for design, and he now creates one of a kind pendants and fused glass wall art as well.
Phyllis Ray
Phyllis will be showing a combination of oil paintings and fine art reproductions of watercolor sketches. She says:
‘Making art in the company of other artists is bliss for me. The oil paintings in this exhibit were done en plein aire on Whidbey Island last Summer, 2022, while with several artist friends. The sketches were done while out with the Whidbey Island Sketchers.
For 7 years, I lived and worked in the Sunny Arms Artist Co-op in South Seattle. Later in life, I had Studio 106 in downtown Langley WA where I worked and showed and sold paintings. I currently belong to two sketcher groups. I have works included in the permanent collection of the Ajijic Museo de Arte in Ajijic Mexico.’
Hope to see you soon in the gallery on Second St in Langley.
