A Table to Farm Dinner
Don’t you just wish someone would throw a party? You know, grab the long tables, the good linens, risk the crystal, feature a great chef, local food and great local wine? Maybe have it in a barn, or even outside? You know, a Farm to Table Dinner?
With wedding season hitting its usual summertime overdrive around here, there are actually lots of parties just like this every weekend. However, unless you’re on the guest list, they’ll probably frown at you just showing up.
Fortunately, some local farmers and chefs are coming to the rescue with Farm to Table events that bring things full circle by bringing the food experience out to the farm.
These aren’t new, of course. What is new is that there are so many of them. I count 15 or so on Whidbey and Camano Islands for this summer, and I likely missed a couple. (Please feel free to add to the list. Email [email protected])
More than just a party, these events are part of a national trend that is supported strongly around here, the idea of eating local and understanding more thoroughly and more intimately where your dinner came from, what it took to get to your plate, and what happened to it along the way.
But, its also a great time!
However, one of these dinners has already happened and two others are sold out.
So, if you want to invite yourself to the party, and become better informed about what’s going into your body, you better sign up soon!
