Crow’s Nest is a vacation home located on South Whidbey Island, conveniently located 15 minutes from the Clinton Ferry Terminal and the charming town of Langley. The unique design of this recently constructed home resembles a countryside barn with influences of Japanese architecture. The upstairs loft has sweeping western views of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound shipping lanes. The home’s spacious layout provides significant amenities for those with mobility issues and the first floor, including the bathroom with open shower, is fully wheelchair accessible. Guests will enjoy sunset views from the 14-foot high window in the great room, which also includes a smart TV, a DVD collection of movies not generally available on streaming services, and an upright piano. The well-equipped kitchen makes food preparation fun and is generally stocked with coffee, tea, half-and-half, various sweeteners, oil and vinegar, spices and herbs. Those with mobility issues can make full use of the kitchen, with appropriate countertop heights and all storage is within easy reach under the counters, not overhead.
The open loft on the second floor—also with western views—looks out over the high-ceilinged living room and provides overflow sleeping places for up to 4 people, including a romantic curtained window seat. A large table with chairs and stools provides ample space to set up a laptop or enjoy the collection of fun board games and puzzles stored in a credenza. Complementary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the home.
The Crow’s Nest is ideal for a cozy and relaxing getaway with areas for socializing or solitude. You can explore adjacent forest trails or kayak friendly Cultus Bay. The calls of eagles are often heard, and on moonlit nights owls sometimes declare their presence. Deer roam freely and often.
As an environmentally friendly home guests are requested to separate compost, recyclables, and trash into the provided containers. There is a SMALL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT UNIT ON LOWEST LEVEL WITH SEPARATE ENTRANCE AND IS OCCUPIED ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. Booking agent is also on call for questions and issues.

NEIGHBORHOOD: Perched close to the crest line of Possession Point at the far south end of Whidbey Island, this small neighborhood is quiet and friendly. At night it’s dark enough for stars to shine and the deep quiet will promote a good night’s sleep. The nearby Cultus Bay is kayak heaven. Hike down forest paths or drive to a pleasant beach park with eastern views where ADA parking and walkways allow wheelchairs to join the rest of your party at the driftwood-strewn beach with picnic tables and BBQ grills.

Crow’s Nest is designed to meet the needs of many folks in wheelchairs or with other mobility issues. If you’re in that group, when you book you may want to let us know so we can make sure the property is optimally configured for your needs and expectations. For example, one option is in the downstairs bedroom which can be configured with ONE KING BED or TWO TWIN BEDS.

Note: The paved road up to the home is quite steep and in ice or snow, guests may need all wheel drive and traction tires.
