The Captain Whidbey is the island’s beloved century-old inn and is full of rustic charm. Set along Penn Cove the property has lodge rooms and cabins facing the water, newer hotel rooms with lagoon views, two meeting spaces along with additional outdoor event spaces. The Captain Whidbey was updated in early 2019. The Ice House accommodates up to 20 guests and can be used for a lunch meeting, classroom session, or a private dinner. Bathroom access is inside the lodge. The Stone Gallery accommodates up to 25 guests and includes a small outdoor patio overlooking the lawn and lagoon. The room comes with a whiteboard and a private bathroom. A mobile television is available, and nearby is a flower and vegetable garden. To extend the space for banquets, receptions and celebrations, there are two outdoor spaces. The Lagoon Lawn accommodates 75 for a banquet and 150 for a reception. The Madrona Lawn holds up to 150 for a reception. All catering is in-house. For accommodations, there are a total of 29 rooms. Twelve are in the historic lodge built with Madrona trees. These rooms share a his and hers bathrooms. Steps away from the lodge are four cabins and 13 lagoon view rooms. Common areas include the lobby with a large stone fireplace and reading nooks, a dining area with a bar and outdoor patio, a private dock, gardens and lagoon trail.
