YMCA Camp Casey Hosts Whidbey Earth Day Celebration
YMCA Camp Casey is excited to host its first Earth Day event on April 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly celebration invites the community to explore Whidbey Island’s natural beauty while learning about local conservation efforts.

The idea for this event grew from Camp Casey’s commitment to environmental stewardship and its strong ties with the Whidbey Island community. Inspired by past collaborations, including the Goosefoot Community Fund’s Earth Day event, Camp Casey saw an opportunity to create a gathering that educates and engages visitors in preserving the island’s rich ecosystems.
The historic parade field will transform into a vibrant hub featuring local environmental organizations. Attendees can visit interactive booths, participate in hands-on activities, and explore volunteer opportunities. Guided beach and bird walks will offer insights into topics like climate change and sea-level rise, emphasizing their impact on the region.
Beyond education, the event promises a festive atmosphere with food vendors and a coffee truck. Partners such as the Whidbey Audubon Society, the Tulalip Tribes, and the Whidbey Camano Land Trust bring their expertise to enrich the experience for attendees.

YMCA Camp Casey, now part of the YMCA of Snohomish County, spans over 75 acres of waterfront property near Fort Casey State Park. With historic military barracks, cottages, and vast open spaces, the camp serves as a destination for youth programs, outdoor education, and community events.
This Earth Day event embodies Camp Casey’s mission to inspire environmental responsibility and strengthen community connections. By opening its doors to the public, the camp hopes to foster a deeper appreciation for nature and encourage active participation in conservation efforts.
Join the celebration on April 19 and be part of a growing tradition dedicated to protecting Whidbey Island’s natural treasures.
