Welcome the Whales Festival and Parade | April 11th and 12th

Please join us for our annual Welcome the Whales Festival and Parade and help us welcome the gray whales to Puget Sound! Each year, a small group of gray whales, affectionately known as The Sounders, detours from their main migration and returns to Puget Sound to feed on ghost shrimp. Some of these amazing animals migrate up to 12,000 miles round trip every year!

Our 2026 Welcome the Whales Festival honors these well-known and beloved whales with costume making, a critter parade, waterside ceremony, Langley beach clean-up, and special presentations.

April 11, 2026 | Festival & Parade
  • 11:00am – Costume making and activities at Langley United Methodist Church
  • 1:30pm – Parade staging at the bus barn parking lot at 6th and Cascade
  • 2:00pm – Welcome the Whales parade through Langley, followed by waterside event at Seawall Park
April 12, 2026 | Presentation & Whale Watch
