The Port of South Whidbey Harbor at Langley offers a free weekend shuttle circulating between downtown Langley and the marina. Look for the red-and-white signs. For broader explorations, Island Transit provides free countywide bus service, including Route 60, which stops near the marina at 3rd Street and Anthes Avenue.
How it works
The Harbor Hopper ferry runs twice a day on Thursdays and Saturdays between Everett and Langley. Reserve your tickets online, then arrive at the Port of Everett a little early to check in and board. As the boat leaves the marina behind, settle in for a relaxing cruise across Possession Sound with sweeping views of the Salish Sea, passing ferries, working waterfronts, forested shorelines, and—if you’re lucky—wildlife along the way.
In about an hour, you’ll arrive at the Langley Marina, just a short walk from the town’s shops, restaurants, galleries, and waterfront. From there, you can spend the day exploring on foot or hop aboard an Island Transit bus to discover more of Whidbey Island at your own pace.
A car-free weekend itinerary
Thursday: Arrive in Langley around 11:00am, check into your room at the Saratoga Inn or any of the other great lodgings around town, stroll downtown Langley’s First Street to browse local galleries and boutiques, then enjoy dinner overlooking Saratoga Passage at the Village Pizzeria, Prima Bistro, or Savory.
Friday: Start the morning with coffee and breakfast at Salty Sea Coffee, before riding Island Transit north to explore the Greenbank Farm or the historic waterfront town of Coupeville. Spend the afternoon outdoors, exploring Double Bluff Beach, or Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. Visit a few wineries and meaderies on your way back to Langley for some delicious PNW seafood at Salt Water, or relaxed and tasty pub fare at Spyhop Public House. Then finish your day with a sunset walk along the waterfront.
Saturday: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Braeburn, visit the Langley Whale Center and catch one of their guided tours, then walk next door to enjoy a slice at Whidbey Pies, which will inevitably lead to you wanting a whole pie to take with you! Do a bit of gift shopping and head back to the marina to board the Harbor Hopper to Everett feeling blissed-out after a true island getaway.
