Camano Island is remarkably easy to get to. There’s no Ferry, No reservations to make, no complicated travel day. You simply cross a bridge. Less time to get there means more time for you to simply be there.
Book a room, or a silo, for the night. Arrowhead Ranch offers a number of overnight options including the Ranchette Silo. Think glamping, crossed with a vintage travel trailer with a bit of living on a boat thrown in. Time to relax into the island’s rhythm.
Take your morning slow. Inhale, exhale, watch the quiet start of the day unfold over the ranch.
A short drive from Arrowhead ranch will bring you to the Camano Commons Marketplace. Camano Island Coffee Roasters is next door so you know the coffee will be good. The Marketplace’s bakery will sooth your sweet tooth or fuel your day, or both! Take some time to shop for local makers’ creations.
Now it’s time for some island exploring.
Gather your picnic provisions for the afternoon’s adventures at the Camano Plaza and then set out.
- Hike the trails at Barnum Point for some deep forest exploration, bluff top views and beautiful quiet stretches of beach.
- Get in touch with your whimsical side on the Hobbit Trail at Iverson Spit Preserve, which also offers stunning views across port Susan to the Cascade mountains.
- Get your binoculars out for some birding at English Boom, as well as stunning views of Mount Baker across Skagit Bay.
Or just wander. The island is a lot bigger than you might think, and there is a certain joy to getting a little lost and discovering an unexpected vista or trail head. Being surrounded by water it never takes too long to find yourself again.
